In 2004, Network Rail teamed up with Edmund Nuttall Ltd on the design and construction of a £3.5m project. Its aim – to reconstruct the superstructure of two underbridges between Vauxhall and Clapham Junction stations. The result – we also reconstructed a 100-year-old rail bridge at Clapham Junction and replaced ten bridge decks in 101 hours. It took two of Britain's largest rail cranes to remove the existing Victorian steel-girded bridge and lift in new prefabricated steel composite bridge decks. Pretty major stuff – and this is just one of hundreds of projects we’re involved in.
Here's the video so you can see the project in all its glory.
